Veil Guardian Vessels

Stone, root, and stellar fire in motion

Unclassified vessels whose changing mineral bodies trace the descent from Orpheon's wreckage to the blue-lit Veilheart.

Four colossal guardian vessels descending through the changing regions of the Veil

Warships or Organs of Defense

The vessels encountered below Orpheon do not fit any surviving Vaelori, Helix, or human manufacturing record. Their silhouettes are deliberate enough to read as warships, yet their materials behave like pieces of the region around them. Roots tighten as armor is struck. Crystals brighten in sequence before weapons discharge. Broken stone plates drift back toward the hull as though the surrounding geology still considers the vessel part of itself.

The archive uses Veil Guardian Vessels as a descriptive classification, not an official name. Their origin and allegiance remain unresolved. They may be native defensive structures, matter reshaped by the force burning the Veil, or machines whose builders understood planetary biology well enough to imitate it. Their changing forms record the descent more reliably than any theory about who commands them.

Broken Descent Forms

The narrow scouts and massive first guardian of the Broken Descent

Near Orpheon's buried excavations, the smaller forms are long, asymmetric splinters of gray stone cinched by black-brown roots. Teal energy runs through central crystal apertures and narrow seams like exposed circulation. They turn by shifting the balance of separated plates rather than banking across a conventional wing. The largest form magnifies the same anatomy into a moving cliff face: stacked mineral armor, grasping root cables, and a brilliant vertical core protected by overlapping shards.

Rootveil Forms

In the Rootveil the vessels become broader and more organic in their symmetry. Stone shoulders flare around luminous green-teal centers, trailing roots comb the air behind them, and moss-like growth survives on armor that should be too hot for vegetation. Their apex form resembles a suspended crown grown around a deep crystal well. Water vapor curls from its lower roots while pulses travel outward through the surrounding forest, suggesting that movement, targeting, and the living network are temporarily sharing one nervous system.

Burning Vale Forms

Curved dark hulls carrying the Vale's white-gold and orange burn

The Burning Vale strips away much of the green. Its vessels are leaner, darker, and edged like hooked spearheads, with curved mineral vanes enclosing white-gold cores. Orange fire travels along their seams without consuming them, then gathers at circular apertures before release. The great form at the center of the formation is an airborne furnace framed by blade-like arcs. Whether these ships carry the burn or have been remade to survive it cannot be determined from their appearance alone.

Veilheart Forms

At Veilheart, both smaller vessel types shift decisively to blue. Their black mineral ribs curve around electric-blue channels, blue crystal splinters hold formation beside the hull, and no orange remains in their active cores. The apex form expands that palette into a brilliant central star enclosed by layered roots, dark crystal armor, and sweeping crescent structures. Its light reflects through the water and surrounding geology, making each attack appear to originate from the chamber itself.

The Question Behind Their Fire

Shape and color establish a progression, not a motive. The guardians oppose the Freedom, but hostility does not prove that they oppose Veridian. A planetary immune response can attack a rescuer it cannot identify; an invading force can wear the matter it consumes; and a containment system can defend a prison while believing it protects what is inside. Until the source of their command is known, the archive preserves all three possibilities.
