A Vek'Thar Brood Hunter is a complete biological organism beneath its layered black-brown chitin. Two powerful upper arms stabilize impact and recoil; two smaller manipulator arms tune the grown rifle's living chambers. Digitigrade legs provide sudden acceleration, amber compound-eye clusters track several movement lanes at once, and fine sensory hairs read pressure changes before a target breaks cover. Crimson shell bands communicate brood identity, while dark resin repairs prove that the same individual has survived previous hunts.
The Formation's Closing Hand
The Hunter does not lead the first charge. Smaller castes shape the target's escape until only one route appears safe. The Hunter waits there, using the biological rifle as part weapon and part sensing organ. Its violence is deliberate, coordinated, and inseparable from the intelligence of the brood.
