The Ship Under Her Fingertips
Sparks is a short, athletic East Asian engineer with a round face, firm jaw, dark eyes, and a chin-length black undercut tucked behind one ear. A scar crosses the bridge of her nose; a compact implant marks her right temple. Grease and blue coolant are more common on her hands than polish. Her graphite jumpsuit carries an amber safety beacon, tool harness, magnetic boots, reinforced knees, and a welding visor ready to drop without hiding her view of the failure.
Competence in Motion
She is expressive because emergencies deserve honest reactions, not because she loses control. Sparks can curse a ruptured manifold while already routing pressure around it, lock herself to a wall with one boot, and weld the only repair that will survive the next burn. Her intimacy with the Freedom is mechanical and personal: she knows which vibration is harmless, which click means evacuation, and which impossible request the ship can endure once.
Keeping the Crew Alive
Every heroic maneuver eventually arrives in engineering as heat, stress, and broken metal. Sparks is the reason those costs do not become funerals. Her work turns Zap's narrow escape, Vargas's firing solution, and Carter's decision into something the Freedom can physically survive.
