A Person Interrupted
A Fragmented Veridian Consciousness flickers between pale blue-white coherence and green-violet interference. Adult anatomy appears for seconds like a living medical scan. Several versions of the same face overlap, each arriving from a different instant, while the remembered outline of research clothing persists without physical cloth. Cables do not pierce a ghost; the consciousness itself stretches into the machine because Orpheon erased the boundary between storage medium and stored person.
Evidence of Survival and Harm
The fragments can recognize a room, repeat part of a task, or respond emotionally before the signal divides again. That partial awareness is why they cannot be dismissed as recordings. Each one is proof that the Initiative preserved enough of a person to suffer while destroying the continuity needed to live freely.
